Salem Oregon Wine Trail | Wineries & Wine Tasting in Oregon

Blaze a trail through time as you explore the rich history of Oregon Wine in the Salem area and timeless treasures.  As you work your way through wine country, venture off in discovery of artisan cheeses, traditional hard cider and delectable chocolate-covered cherries. Make sure to document your trip like true historians with photos and journal notes. 

Wineries

  1. Honeywood Winery - The oldest producing winery in Oregon has created award-winning varietals ? including their delicious fruit wines ? for more than 75 years.
  2. Redhawk Winery - Enjoy a picnic lunch on an open field as you overlook a beautiful vineyard in the Willamette Valley.  The tasting room ? featuring a fun and relaxed atmosphere ? is open daily 11 a.m. -  5 p.m. year-round.
  3. Witness Tree Vineyard - This Oregon winery is named for an ancient oak tree that was used as a surveyor's landmark in 1854 during the Oregon Trail years. The varied microclimates at the vineyard facilitate earlier ripening of the fruit which produces exceptional wines.
  4. St. Innocent Winery - The wines are handcrafted to complement food and extend the pleasure of a meal. The tasting room, in Salem, is open 11 a.m - 4 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday (May 1 through October 31).
  5. Wandering Aengus Ciderworks - The cidery creates outstanding hard ciders from uncommon apple varieties. The tasting room is open the last Friday of each month and by appointment.
  6. Johan Vineyards - Owner Dag Johan Sundby, the descendant of a long line of soil cultivators, moved to the Willamette Valley to make his mark on the ancient Pinot noir grape.
  7. Cherry Hill - Take a scenic stroll through the vineyard or relax on the patio with a glass of delicious Pinot noir. The tasting room is open weekdays 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. (call first) and on weekends 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  8. Left Coast Cellars - Past the entrance gates - a piece of art depicting the natural grapevines seen beyond them - you'll experience handcrafted, estate-grown Chardonnay, Pinot gris and Pinot noir.
  9. Eola Hills Wine Cellars - The famous all-you-can-eat Sunday Brunch comes with two tickets to experience this winery's award-winning varietals.
  10. Firesteed Celllars - Visitors can experience elegant fine wines at the newly remodeled tasting room and retail shop.
  11. Orchard Heights Winery - The owners of this winery also operate a chocolate factory in Hawaii specializing in gourmet confections using Macadamia nuts, pineapple and Kona coffee beans. Chocolate and wine together - fantastic!
  12. Cubanisimo Vineyards - Dust off your dancing shoes and channel your inner moves at the monthly salsa lessons held at Cubanisimo. Celebrate the wine in Oregon - Cuban Style!

Historic Places

  1. Bush House Museum - Built in 1878 by Asahel Bush II, this Italianate-style Victorian mansion and conservatory in Bush's Pasture Park features changing exhibits, original fine art and furnishings.
  2. Historic Deepwood Estate - This 1894 Queen Anne Victorian house, located on 4.5 acres of historic gardens and nature trails, features exquisite stained glass and golden oak woodwork.
  3. Oregon State Capitol - Marble adorns Oregon's Capitol, built in 1938. Atop the dome sits the “Gold Pioneer.” Tours of the building are available, including the 121-step spiraling climb to the top of the building onto an observation deck offering astounding views of the city.
  4. Spring Valley Presbyterian Church - Enjoy a picnic lunch at this 1859 Queen Anne Victorian church placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
  5. Applegate National Historic Trail in Dallas - The official starting and ending point of the Applegate Trail, an alternative route from the Oregon Trail into the Willamette Valley. Interpretative wayside located at the Dallas City Park, Polk County Museum and Guthrie Park.
