The vision of the Salem Multicultural Institute (SMI) and the purpose of the World Beat Festival and World Beat Gallery are to create an environment of openness for all people. In all their activities, SMI aims to be family-friendly, economically inclusive, and culturally authentic.
World Beat Festival is Oregon's largest multicultural event. It draws around 25,000 visitors and features over 100 performances, 70 cultures over 2 days.
The festival takes place June 28 and 29. The Friday Night at the Beat takes place on June 27.
