Wine with a View in the South Willamette Valley

By Stephen Hoshaw

Drink in the views of the fertile landscape of the Willamette Valley while sipping on the wines that thrive here. Here is a list of the top wineries to enjoy the view near Eugene in Oregon's wine country. Many of the wineries in the South Willamette Valley focus on sustainability with some certified Organic or Biodynamic. The wineries have a respect for the land and you will too after delighting in the grandeur of the valley and tasting the richness of the wines.

HIGH PASS WINERY - At the foot of the coastal mountain range lies this small tasting room with outdoor seating. Check their events for the popular African Night parties and other experiences with the owners.

SARVER WINERY - This local favorite sits atop a Southeast facing hill and offers a variety of well crafted wines as well as artisan cheeses and charcuterie boards. Sarver welcomes kids and pets so the whole family can enjoy this scenic location.

PFEIFFER WINERY - Incredible Pinot is served out of this intimate Italian grotto style tasting room. Outside, sit and enjoy the view of one of the oldest vineyards in the area or take a stroll through the terraced water garden.

SILVAN RIDGE WINERY - The view at this winery can be enjoyed from inside by the fire or out on their grassy amphitheater where bands play every Friday evening in the summer. Their summer concerts pair perfectly with their sweet and refreshing, semi-sparkling Early Muscat.

KING ESTATE - King Estate offers a large wine library and fine dining with panoramic views from the hilltop estate. King Estate partners with local non-profit wildlife hospital the Cascades Raptor Center ( https://www.eugenecascadescoast.org/listing/cascades-raptor-center/701/ ) to release rehabilitated birds of prey on their acreage. Keep your eyes peeled for Osprey, Hawks, Owls and Falcons flying over the vineyard.
